Where History Finds Its Voice
Voices of the Vanguard is a music and learning series from Mhewy Productions. Each album tells the stories of Black and African leaders, thinkers, and artists through original songs, and each song comes with a companion page to read, color, and think about.
Hear the music. Read the story. Continue the journey.
Listen. Read. Create.
Listen — Every figure has an original song. Scan the QR code in the activity book or visit their page to play it.
Read — Short biographies, key words to know, and things to listen for help each story make sense.
Create — Coloring pages and activities turn what you hear into something you make.
The Volume 1 Activity Book
Coming soon: a coloring and activity book with two pages for each of the eleven voices, one to color and one to think, write, and explore. Made for ages 8–12, and welcome at any age, at home, in the classroom, or in a homeschool.
For Parents and Educators
Some of these stories include slavery, violence, and injustice. We tell them honestly and with care, and we recommend that younger listeners explore them with a trusted adult.
